Fort Ticonderoga
Built by the French in 1755, this 18th century restored fort is located between Lakes Champlain and George. The fort was the site of major battles in the French and Indian War and the site of the first American victory of the American Revolution. Enjoy the fort, a world-class museum, costumed interpreters, and daily artillery demonstrations.


Fort William Henry
View French and Indian artifacts and other displays at this historic fort located in Lake George Village. You can watch the classic "Last of the Mohicans" and other interesting videos. Guide historians wearing dress of the 18th century, will show you what life was like with cannon firings and a demonstration of the firing of the Flintlock Musket.

General Schuyler House

The original Schuyler House and outbuildings, a much larger estate, were burned by the British during the Saratoga battles of the Revolutionary War  The current home was built by American troops in the fall of 1777.  George Washington visited this country home of General Phillip Schuyler (1722-1804) was well as other illustrious visitors, including the Marquis de Chastellux and Alexander Hamilton. Great Camp Sagamore
Sagamore is an historic "great camp" in the central Adirondacks. Dating from the 1890s, Great Camps were the extensive, forested mountain estates of the Gilded Age wealthy. Sagamore boasted hot and cold running water, indoor plumbing, hydroelectric power, a bowling alley and entourages of British servants. Sagamore belonged to Alfred G. Vanderbilt. His neighbors at Raquette Lake were J.P. Morgan and Andrew Carnegie. Today, Sagamore is the only great camp operating as a non-profit organization, open to the public.

Marcella Sembrich Opera Museum
Experience a bit of Lake George's Golden Age in this pink stucco building that has survived from the "Great and Gracious" period of Adirondack history. Walk along 1000 feet of shoreline paths with scenic Lake George vista and towering white pines in what was part of Mme. Sembrich's Woodland Retreat. This Metropolitan Opera diva's lakeside teaching studio museums holds mementos of her entire operatic career.

The National Museum of Dance was established in 1986 and is the only museum in the nation dedicated to professional American dance. Saratoga National Historical Park
Site of the first significant American military victory during the Revolution, the Battles of Saratoga rank among the fifteen most decisive battles in world history. Here in 1777 American forces met, defeated and forced a major British army to surrender, an event which led France to recognize the independence of the United States and enter the war as a decisive military ally of the struggling Americans.

Saratoga Monument
The Saratoga Monument commemorates the surrender of the British Army under the command of General John Burgoyne to General Horatio Gates, commander of the America forces on October 17, 1777 following the battles of Saratoga. The battles and subsequent surrender are considered a turning point in the American Revolution by leading to French support and the hope of ultimate victory.   This lofty site was chosen for the monument because of its commanding view of the surrounding battlefield sites and its historical association with Burgoyne's campaign.  Schuylerville 664-9821

Shelburne Museum

Upper Hudson River Railroad
The North Creek Train Station and surrounding rail system has played a significant role in the social and industrial history of the Adirondacks. Theodore Roosevelt was brought here by horse drawn carriage to catch a train to Buffalo after the assassination of William McKinley. The station has been totally refurbished and currently houses a museum that tells the history of trains in the area.

Up Yonda Farm Environmental Education Center
Up Yonda Farm offers 73 acres with a spectacular view overlooking Lake George. Public nature programs on a variety of topics are presented year round. Natural history exhibits featuring a diorama with native mammals and birds are housed in the museum.
